Yana Medow trained in painting restoration before she began making her own work. She studied at the Stieglitz Academy and worked as a restorer, graphic designer, and illustrator before becoming a full-time artist in 2020.

She paints the human figure, mostly women. She is interested in movement and gesture, and in how a single pose can show emotion. Her women are elegant, funny, and vulnerable all at once. She uses flowing lines and strong color contrasts, and often stretches or bends the figures to bring out the feeling.

Medow is from St. Petersburg and now lives and works in Alicante.
