Jiatong Yuan
Jiatong Yuan is a Chinese painter based in London. She graduated from the MA Painting program at the Royal College of Art in 2026. Before that, she completed an MA in Art and Ecology at Goldsmiths with distinction.

She begins each work by soaking a specially prepared canvas so the pigment seeps into it. The canvas then dries over a long period while the color absorbs and settles. After that, she adds brushwork on top. Her work refers to plant growth, microbiological processes and everyday experience. Her brushwork is informed by traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy.

She has exhibited in the UK, the US, Germany and China, including at Haricot Gallery and LBF Contemporary. Two of her works are in the collection of the FAMM Museum. In 2025 she received the Basil H. Alkazzi Scholarship Award.
