Alezendria Decking is a Brazilian-American painter based in Richmond, Virginia. She received her BFA in Painting from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia in 2019.
Her paintings show everyday scenes, based on things she has seen and things she imagines. People passing each other, their gestures and the expressions on their faces are her main material. She uses humor and exaggeration to look at personal and social relationships.
Decking chooses her colors intuitively and often crops her compositions. Her scenes are set in both public and private spaces. “Can’t anything be a spectacle if you are looking close enough?” she asks.
