As the year winds down, museums from New York to Hong Kong and Madrid open some of their most anticipated shows. From historic surveys to unexpected cross-cultural pairings, here are the exhibitions shaping the global art conversation this month.
New York — Studio Museum in Harlem / Tom Lloyd — Solo Exhibition
LOCATION: Studio Museum in Harlem
DATES: Opens November 15, 2025
THEME: A dedicated presentation of Tom Lloyd’s work
SCOPE: Six decades of electronic and kinetic pieces, shown together for the first time in years
The Studio Museum opens its new building with a major Tom Lloyd survey, a two-century rehang of the permanent collection, a large AIR alumni presentation, and an archival look at the museum’s own history. New commissions by Camille Norment and Christopher Myers are built into the space, while works by David Hammons and Glenn Ligon return. The expanded building — designed by Adjaye Associates with Cooper Robertson — adds larger galleries, new program spaces, and a rooftop by Studio Zewde.
Hong Kong — M+ / Robert Rauschenberg and Asia
LOCATION: M+ Museum, West Kowloon Cultural District
DATES: Opens November 22, 2025
THEME: Rauschenberg’s long, often overlooked connections with Asian artists and ideas
SCOPE : Includes collaborations, materials, and the ROCI chapters in China, India, Japan, and beyond
INFO: https://www.mplus.org.hk
M+ turns to Rauschenberg’s decades-long engagement with Asia — from his work with makers in China and India, to the ROCI exhibitions he staged across the region. Asian artists appear alongside him, reframing the centenary with a wider perspective on cultural exchange.
London — National Gallery / Wright of Derby: From the Shadows

THEME: Joseph Wright of Derby’s candlelit scenes and night studies
SCOPE: More than twenty paintings, drawings, and prints
A focused look at Joseph Wright of Derby’s candlelit scenes: scientific experiments, night studies, and the odd mix of awe and unease he was so good at. More than twenty works show how much he pulled out of darkness long before photography existed.
London — Caravaggio’s Cupid and the Swords of Lucknow
LOCATION: The Wallace Collection
DATES: Opens November 26, 2025
THEME: Caravaggio’s Cupid as Victor shown with Roman sculptures from the same historic collection
SCOPE : A focused three-work installation recreating how they appeared in Vincenzo Giustiniani’s 17th-century palace
Caravaggio’s Cupid as Victor appears in the UK for the first time, displayed with two Roman sculptures once owned by the same patron. A small, atmospheric installation that mirrors the work’s original context. Free entry.
London — Tate Britain / Turner and Constable
LOCATION: Tate Britain
DATES: November 27, 2025 – April 12, 2026
THEME: A joint anniversary show marking 250 years since both artists were born
SCOPE : Over 170 works comparing their approaches across the same period
INFO: https://www.tate.org.uk
Turner and Constable — rivals in their own lifetime — are presented side by side in a rare large-scale pairing. From storms and burning buildings to quiet riverbanks, the exhibition follows their different instincts for landscape and mood.
Madrid — Museo del Prado / Anton Raphael Mengs

THEME: A full-scale retrospective of the Neoclassical painter
SCOPE: Around 150 works including major portraits, drawings, and fresco studies
