Nancy Blum and Robert Ryan — Dual Exhibition at Robilant+Voena

Location: Robilant+Voena, New York

Date: Opens December 11, 2025

Project: Solo exhibitions by Nancy Blum and Robert Ryan

Why it Matters: A dual exhibition that brings together two distinct painting practices across the gallery’s two floors

Robilant+Voena opens its winter season with two solo exhibitions installed across the gallery’s fourth and fifth floors. The presentation pairs new work by Nancy Blum with recent paintings by Robert Ryan, each shown in separate spaces.

Nancy Blum’s Black Drawings presents a group of recent works made with ink and graphite. Working almost exclusively in black, Blum builds each drawing through repeated marks and layered surfaces. The process is gradual, and this is visible in the density of the drawings. Variations in pressure and rhythm appear across the surface.

On the floor below, Robert Ryan presents Another Time and Place, a series of landscape paintings based on County Limerick in Ireland. The works show rural roads, fields, and tree lines. Ryan uses a limited palette and consistent light, keeping the compositions simple. The paintings focus on place and structure, with no added narrative elements.
