Marine Lababrie is a French artist based in Brittany. She makes ceramics by hand, using stoneware. She doesn’t plan a piece before she starts; she just works the clay and sees where it goes.
Her pieces have simple, rounded shapes. Because she makes them by hand, no two are exactly the same, and the firing changes the surface a little. She likes to keep things simple and takes away anything that feels like too much.
She takes ideas from architecture, design, and shapes in nature. Each new piece follows on from the last, and over the years her ceramics have started to look more like sculpture.
