Alexandra Iaccarino is a Los Angeles-based painter who works primarily in oil. Her paintings are partly abstract and partly figurative, with textured surfaces and visible brushwork.

She paints intuitively and does not use sketches or reference images. She applies the paint in many layers, paints over parts of the earlier ones and uncovers some of them again. Faces, landscapes and organic forms come up during this process. Many of them are painted over before the work is finished.

Her paintings are based on memories of places, emotions and encounters. One example is the atmosphere of a place long after she has left it. Another is the feeling that remains after a conversation.
