Why it Matters: It's the first photography show Colector has ever staged, and every print exists in a single edition
Both photographers shot their portraits on the same camera, the Polaroid Big Shot, the model Andy Warhol used for his own celebrity portraits in the 1970s. Phillip Leeds picked it back up in New York for a formal body of work, decades after the camera had mostly fallen out of serious use.

Leeds' archive covers decades of fashion and pop culture, with portraits including Naomi Campbell, André Leon Talley, Virgil Abloh, Pharrell Williams, Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani, SZA, Tyler, the Creator, and A$AP Rocky.
YFIF, originally from Venezuela, has spent those same years documenting a younger generation of Latin American music and visual culture, among them Young Miko, Ryan Castro, Álvaro Díaz, Yandel, Daddy Yankee, Latin Mafia, NSQK, Elena Rose, Girl Ultra, Jesse Baez, Mala Rodríguez, and Ozuna.
Colector was founded in 2019 by Jesús Alberto Flores in San Pedro Garza García, part of the Monterrey metro area, and had never included photography in its curatorial program before this show, specifically because photographic prints are usually reproducible. Every piece in Folie à Deux is 1:1, printed once and never again.
